Los Angeles Lakers: NBA Player Shares Hilarious Take on MJ/LeBron Debate After Lakers’ Disappointing 2024 Playoff Exit
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

When it comes to who the greatest basketball player is, it almost always boils down to LeBron James and Michael Jordan. LeBron, currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, is making a strong case for putting together the type of career players can only dream of.

However, Jordan has his gravitas that makes him beloved to hardcore basketball fans who watched him play. It’s also undeniable how much of an impact His Airness brought to the game with his global reach.

While the GOAT debate may not see a proper conclusion as long as the sport is still popular, one player has his unique spin on the conversation and you couldn’t help but laugh at his take.

Devonte Graham backs Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James as GOAT but shares funny opinion about MJ

Devonte Graham may have a skewed point of view compared to the average NBA fan. He’s played against LeBron during his time in the league, and this gives him a full idea of how great of a player King James is.

While he’s made it clear that he’s openly supporting Bron, he’s showing a bit of loyalty to MJ, who he played for when he was a member of the Charlotte Hornets.

Per The Spun’s Andrew Gould:

“I played for the GOAT, Michael Jordan,” Graham told HoopsHype. “He paid me. When I played there, he was definitely the GOAT. Once I got traded, it became LeBron.”

It’s a pretty hilarious take to see someone flip his loyalties like this, but it’s understandable why he’d do so. LeBron may not be the most dominant basketball player on the planet anymore, but the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers are still willing to pick Bronny just to keep him in LA is a testament to how great a player he is.

However, just one-sidedly backing James without considering Michael Jordan’s accomplishments is a disservice to the game. Not only has he turned the game into a global phenomenon, but his playoff performances showcase a complete player who can greatly impact both sides of the game.

At the end of the day, personal preference will determine which of the two players is the greatest. Fans of both sides should recognize the value the two have brought to the game, though. It’s undeniable that their impact on basketball will stay for years to come.
